First drop-in spaces open in North Dorset

New Access Wellbeing drop-in spaces have opened in Sturminster Newton and Blandford, marking the arrival of Access Wellbeing in North Dorset.

Further spaces will open in Gillingham, Sherborne and Shaftesbury over the coming weeks.

The new services provide a welcoming space to find support on the issues that matter to each individual. That might be mental health and emotional wellbeing, or practical help on topics such as finances, work, housing or support for carers.

Residents can drop in at any time during opening hours and the friendly team will be on-hand to listen, then help people to access the right support and advice.

The new drop-in services in North Dorset will be run by Dorset Mind, as part of a collaborative partnership with other charities and the NHS.

David Sutherland, Senior Access Wellbeing Coordinator for North Dorset, said: “We are delighted to be opening these new spaces within our communities here in North Dorset. They will provide accessible support to anyone aged 18 and over, offering a vital space to turn when you’re feeling worried or overwhelmed – whether you’re facing mental health or emotional difficulties, or are struggling with practical worries such as housing, money or work.

“Whatever’s on your mind, our friendly team of wellbeing coordinators are there to listen and sit alongside you, to make sure you get the right support and help.”

Details on all our North Dorset venues are available on our community drop-ins page.
